The connection dropped
What the screen says
The connection dropped
Your connection cut out for long enough that the machine stopped waiting.
4 things to try
- Select Go again.
- You start a fresh session. Your progress is in your own Steam account, so you pick up from the last point the game saved.
A drop mid-session is usually the last few metres rather than the internet itself.
- Move within about 5 metres of the router, with no wall in between, and play for ten minutes.
- If that holds for ten minutes, the signal was the problem rather than your internet.
- If your router offers 5GHz and 2.4GHz as separate networks, join the 5GHz one.
- Reseat the cable at both ends. A cable that is half out drops under load and looks fine otherwise.
- If you are going through a powerline adapter, plug straight into the router for one session to rule it out.
- Note whether it drops at roughly the same time of day. That pattern points at your line rather than at anything in your house.
- Select No, tell us and include W4-02, the title, and how far into the session it dropped.
Worth knowing Nothing is lost. The save lives in your Steam account, not on our machine.
