Is there a Mac version of Counter-Strike 2?
No. CS:GO ran on macOS, Counter-Strike 2 does not. Valve supports it on 64-bit Windows and Linux only, and said too few players were on a Mac to keep it. Walter runs CS2 on a Windows gaming PC and streams it to your browser.
What about CrossOver or Boot Camp?
Mac players try CrossOver or Apple’s Game Porting Toolkit. Results change with every Valve update, and competitive play is where it matters most. Boot Camp only exists on Intel Macs.
Is Counter-Strike 2 free on Walter?
Counter-Strike 2 is free on Steam, and playing it on Walter is free during the early alpha. You need a Steam account, which costs nothing.
Does it work on a MacBook Air?
Yes. Counter-Strike 2 runs on Walter’s machine, so an Air plays it the same as a Pro. Your connection counts for more than your Mac. Sit close to the router.
Which controls work?
CS2 is a mouse game. Plug in a mouse, the trackpad will not hold a crosshair. Walter keeps CS2 on laptops and desktops for that reason.
Do I keep my progress?
Yes. You sign in with your own Steam account inside the game window, so your progress, items and friends are the ones you already have.
Will it lag?
That depends on how far you are from the nearest Walter machine. Within 500km it plays like a rig under your desk. Further out you feel it in a shooter. The coverage page on walter.gg shows where the machines are.
Can I always play right away?
Not always. Walter is in early alpha and there are only so many machines. On a busy evening they can all be taken, and then you wait or come back later.
