Walter coverage

Every game you play on Walter runs on a real machine in a real building. These are the buildings.

Walter runs machines in 23 regions: Scotland, London, Netherlands and western Germany, Sweden, Denmark, Eastern France, Switzerland, Barcelona, Greece, Pacific northwest, Oregon, Southern California, Utah, Colorado, Texas, Georgia, Great Lakes, Uruguay, Kazakhstan, Pune, India, Hanoi, Vietnam, Singapore, Sydney.

How close you need to be

Find the pin nearest you, and judge it on distance rather than on borders. Texas and Oregon sit in the same country and 2,700km apart.

Within 500km of a pin, Walter plays like the rig is under your desk. Call it London to Edinburgh, or Los Angeles to San Francisco.

Inside 50km, roughly your own city, the distance stops counting for anything.

Further out it starts to show. Every frame travels longer to reach you and your aim takes the same road back. In a slower game that passes. In a shooter it decides the fight.

Nothing for you to measure though. Press play and find out. When you close the game Walter asks how it ran. Say it straight. Walter is in early alpha, and that answer is how the lab learns where this map falls short.

Outside these regions

Two things can happen.

Walter finds you a machine anyway, just a further one. It plays. In a slower game you will not notice. In a shooter you will.

Or nothing is free and the loading screen keeps spinning. That one is capacity, not your connection.

Even inside a region

There are only so many machines, and on a busy night they are all taken. This map shows where Walter runs. It does not promise one is free right now.

The map grows as machines come online.
